Among these cases, 40% relate to knee osteoarthritis. Many treatments can be considered\u00a0 according to the gravity of symptoms to recover movement and to reduce the impact that osteoarthritis has on a daily basis.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>Crippling symptoms<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most telling symptoms of <a href=\"https:\/\/laboratoireevo.com\/en\/diagnosis\/osteoarthritis-knee\/\">knee osteoarthritis<\/a> are generally :<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Knee discomfort after change in temperature or during humid weather (mostly in autumn or spring) ;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joint stiffness early in the morning or after a long period of stillness, following a progressive loss of flexibility in the knee ;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Presence of crackling in the knee during flexion ;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sensitivity at touch ;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pain manifesting when the knee is in movement and eased with rest ;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pain occasionally affecting sleep.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Multiple risk factors<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Osteoarthritis, also known as gonarthrosis, results from the gradual wear and deformation of the knee joint with damage to the menisci. It is characterized by mechanical pain from friction on joint surfaces, difficulty in performing articular movements, and\/or by pain of inflammatory origin (arthritis).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Osteoarthritis (or gonarthrosis) often affects both knees simultaneously and is caused by an accumulation of the following\u00a0 risk factors : <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Age: osteoarthritis is more frequent around the ages of 50 to 60 ;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sex: gonarthrosis manifests more often in women, particularly after menopause ;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gene factors ;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Genu varum, a deviation of the axis of the leg with the knees going outwards, or knee algum which consists in a deviation of the axis of the leg with the knees going inwards ;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overweight, which overloads the joints ;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A previous injury in the knee articulation ;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repetitive and\/or intensive practice of certain activities or sports involving weights causing microtrauma and therefore overworked joints;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Certain illnesses such as gout, rheumatoid arthritis or infectious arthritis.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Treatments to ease knee osteoarthritis symptoms<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is not one definite treatment of osteoarthritis.
