Relieve heavy legs

The sensation of having heavy swollen legs, combined with aching, affects many people, especially women during a pregnancy. A sign of poor blood circulation, heavy legs can become a real handicap when the legs swell and the symptoms can be more or less intense depending on the person : cramps, tingling or oedema.
The first symptoms often appear in the summer after a long hot day or at the end of a tiring day that would involve standing.

Wearing compression stockings is the most effective solution to relieve heavy legs since it will help a good venous return through its compression action.

Prevent the appearance of varicose veins

Most of the time, varicose veins are located on the legs and are easily recognizable. They are due to venous insufficiency in the legs. Varicose veins can be visually distinguished by the appearance of a vein on the surface of the skin, by its blue color and by its shape, which resembles a cord.

The symptoms are quite varied and can be more or less embarrassing for the person feeling them. They are similar to a feeling of heavy legs, tingling, itching, varicose veins and of course the appearance of dilated veins.

In order to alleviate pain and most importantly to avoid complications, the optimal solution is to wear compression stockings. The compression stocking will exert pressure on the veins and increase blood flow.

Preventing pulmonary embolism

A pulmonary embolism is an obstruction by a blood clot in one of the arteries leading to the lungs. In most cases, the clot forms in the legs and migrates through the body to the lungs. There are many internal and external causes that can explain blood clotting and the formation of clots in the veins : lying down for a long period of time, slowed blood circulation due to varicose veins, damage caused by an injury or an injection, abnormal coagulation, etc.

If risk factors are detected and after surgery, the use of compression stockings or tights is recommended as a preventive measure.

Air travel

If you are about to take a long airplane trip, expect to sit still for a long period of time in an environment with low humidity and oxygen levels. All of these factors can accentuate certain circulatory disorders such as venous insufficiency, for example.

In order to preserve your venous capital, we advise you to opt for loose-fitting pants, move around as much as possible (get up to go to the bathroom, do flexion-extensions) and drink a lot of water to stay hydrated and promote venous return. And most of all, if you already have known circulatory problems, wearing compression stockings will certainly help you during your trip.

The orthotists at the EVO Laboratory offer you all their precious advice for the purchase of your compression stockings. Feel free to contact your nearest clinic.
